It makes sense that we all want to know how to drive long off the tee. After all, more distance gives us shorter and easier approach shots to the green. Most of the golf swing instruction e-books offer to teach us how to add more distance. Most of them promise an extra few yards or so.

These guide books, though, are aimed at the beginner or recreational golfer. They teach you everything about the golf swing; from the grip and setup, to the backswing and follow through. But if you are a more accomplished golfer that is looking for more detailed information about how to drive long, you will need to go to the distance golf experts.

The Long Drivers of America

You could start by visiting the Long Drivers of America website. They are the official golf association for the Remax Long Drive Championship. These power golf swing fanatics are all about achieving maximum golf distance. Mike Austin And The Worlds Longest Drive

Unbelievably, the Worlds longest golf drive has not been broken since 1974. Golfing legend, Mike Austin, holds the Guinness World Record for longest drive in a tournament. His record breaking 515-yard drive was accomplished at the 1974 U.S. National Senior Open in Las Vegas - at the age of 64!

That was using a 43.5 inch steel-shafted, wood-headed driver! So obviously, the golf equipment doesn't have that much to do with how far you can drive the ball. Though, today's long drive champions use 2X or 3X, extra stiff shafts that are up to 50 inches, and driver lofts that are as low as 5 or 6 degrees.

How To Drive Long Off The Tee

For most of us weekend warriors, we just want to know how to drive long and to improve our golf game in general. You may have a good grip and swing technique, but it doesn't necessarily mean that you will have a good golf distance off the tee. Your golf club head speed is the major factor that you need to improve on. For every 1 mph of increased golf swing speed means a increase of about 2.5 yards of distance. Basically, if you increase your swing speed you'll increase your distance.

Of course, there are other factors involved if you want to learn how to drive long. Golf fitness training and flexibility go along way to improving, not just your distance, but your overall golf game. Another area of your game that you should work on is the mental game of golf. The above areas of golf are generally overlooked by the majority of golfers, but they are vitally important to take your game to a higher level.

A Distance Golf Instructor

So, if you really want to learn how to drive long, you will need a professional golf instructor who knows what is required for distance golf. If you are currently hitting drives of 200 yards, then adding a few yards to your drives won't help you much. You need to find someone that has been where you are and who can now hit 350 to 430 yard drives.

What does a game of golf involve? Lots of walking, chasing after a small ball the whole afternoon. Getting the ball into sand traps, water hazards and bunkers,etc. Of course that's what non-golfers would usually say. Us golfers know better.

But don't forget that besides improving your handicap score, your next most important area to take care of are your golf accessories. They are just as important. Without them, you cant really hit anything can you?

So to make sure those golf accessories like golf clubs, golf balls and misc items are kept in great condition, you'll need some protection for it. That's where golf bags come in. While there are just as many brands of golf bags just as there are many grains of sand on the beach (okay maybe I'm exaggerating), there are really only a few types of golf bags. Lets take a look at these bags.

Alright first we have the golf staff bag. This is the big and mean bags for the serious golfers. This is the type of golf bag that professionals use and they really, and I mean really do pack a large space for you to squeeze in every imaginable golf club heads. That being said, the price tag on it is not cheap.

Ok, so maybe you'll not the big wig professionals and don't need such a huge and expensive bag. Well for the weekend golfers, may I suggest the golf stand bag. It is small and light and definitely easy to carry around. Plus it usually comes with a stand that allows you to prop up the bag easily. Just don't expect to fit your entire collection of golf clubs into it though. Minimalist is the feature of this bag.

Lastly, we have the golf cart bag. Okay this is like the hybrid between the golf staff bag and golf stand bag. It strikes a balance between space and size. It may be less comfortable to carry around than the stand bag, but if you are more than the average weekend golfer, this bag provides the optimal mix. You can stuff in more golf clubs and still be able to put it in that car boot or plane cargo.

World Golf tournaments are some of the most popular golf events today, as well as Junior Golf tournaments. Keeping younger golfers interested in the game is important the future of golf. Without the interest of junior golfers the professional sport would, gradually, dwindle and fade. Fortunately, professional golfer Tiger Woods sparked a new interest in golf for the younger population and also renewed the interest from the more mature golf fans.

Professional Golf Association (PGA) tournament tours are planned far in advance and are affordable for those golf fans that have no qualms about the cost. With the best first place prizes in golf, PGA tournaments enjoy the most loyal fan base out of any sport. The PGA tour is a highly anticipated golfing event consisting of four major championships. The tournament is played annually, and a different golf course is chosen for the honor of supporting this extraordinary golf event every year.

Golf's major events go beyond the popular PGA tour. The Masters is played every four years in Augusta, Georgia, originally founded by Bobby Jones who is highly respected by all golfers. You can find a lot of information online about your favorite golf tourney. You will be amazed at the abundance of accurate detailed information provided about your favorite as well as the many popular golf events. Local golf tournaments are probably listed in your local newspaper under the "events" section. This can be a great time for the entire family, competing against one another as well as other golfers.

You can raise a good amount of funding for any benefit with little time and minimal costs. Golfers are often willing to donate time and money to support a good cause. Golf swing and a healthy posture is needed to stay in good shape to play a good game. Sometimes we forget the simple things we need to do to keep from getting back pain. Not to mention a better golf score because of better posture.

Of course having bad posture does not always mean you will play a bad game. It just means that it will be a lot harder on you to play a good game. This is true of just about anything requires movement and work from the use of your back.

How is Posture and Golf Swing Related?

Ever wonder how to improve your golf swing? The first concern is do you have and maintain the correct posture. Do you always do the correct stretching to keep your back in shape? People think that having the best tools, clubs and shoes are the answer. The best golf swing will require a healthy limber back. Some simple stretching every day will maintain a healthy back providing much better posture for your gold game. It will also provide better protection for the nerves and muscles that protect your back.

How to Correct Posture

Most digital cameras will take short video clips. Take some clips of your golf swing. Study it and compare it to some of the pros and practice correcting you stance and posture.
